I have this unsightly "electrical box" flush with the wall (you know the one where all your power stems from throughout the house) in a newly remodeled laundry room. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I could disguise it to coordinate with my new room, but still have access to it if and when needed.

i got a carpenter to do a little work on it to make it look like small little house and painted it with nice colours...

it's now the focus point of our house and our guests will play games trying to figure out what's in it....

some would say it's an altar box, house key box (duh!!!.. it's so high up).... it's fun.

have a nice time thinking!!

cheers. :)

I have a half closet in the living room where air conditioning unit is located inside. Why in the world they would put such an eyesore in the main living room, I don't know.

I painted the entire living room a light brown, mushroom color. I also painted the closet door and frame so it blends with the rest of the wall. I also hung a indoor chime, in the corner to draw attention away from the door. You can't even tell there is a door there anymore...

Hang a big picture over it. You're not supposed to paint it, but I did. Probably wasn't the best idea I've had. Go with the picture. Some people forget to decorate thier laundry room with accessories, but think about it, you spend time in there, why shouldn't it be pretty?

You can paint it to match the wall, being very, very careful to keep the paint out of it.

Another idea would be to hand a small nail above it and hang a picture or such. This would allow for quick removal in case of emergency, while still covering the look.

I had this same problem. I purchased a wooden roller blind to hang in front of the box. It keeps it from view, but I have easy access to the box when I need to. I got mine from Ikea really cheap. It was easy to hang from the ceiling beams in the basement, too, as it came with eye hooks already installed in the blind.
