Very slim. Until the Democrats get us into another world war, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistant, Iraq. Look it up, they did it. Every last one got its start during peaceloving, liberal democratic regimes.

The chances of this are slim. The only thing that prevents this is Mr. Bush's Republican supporters, otherwise he might do it. The Republicans wouldn't stand a chance to get re-elected if this was instigated. Their chances are pretty slim now since they have screwed up so badly with yet another mistaken war. A draft means that almost anyone could be called up and the high and mighty in Washington could not let that happen, because one of their little darlings might have to high tail it to Canada and that would not look good on the Republicans. Will never happen unless a world war is eminent and that is not a complete misconception the way the war on terror is going. We have almost reached the point of no return. Either it is to wipe out all enemies of Israel or the end of the world, take your choice. What's another 50 trillion of your dollars to Israel. How much of this war are they footing the bill for? Notice of late they have been pretty quiet while their neighbours have been feeling the heat of war, they seem to be taking a holiday from blowing up Palestinians. What is with that?

Want be until after 2008 and next President is already in office, they will have to blame Bush for it, when really it is the democrats that are pushing the draft. I respect and appreciate the statement you made , you would go no matter what. Your a fine person and a proud American and I am very proud to call you honorable. thanks

I'd say as time goes on that it becomes more likely. I'd say the next step is going to be the leadership taking into consideration the possibility of females being required to register for selective service as well.

For all you peace-loving, Democrat adoring youngsters.... Did you know that in 1994, President Clinton asked the Secretary of Defense to update its mobilization requirements for the Selective Service System and, as a part of the effort, "continue to review the arguments for and against continuing to exclude women from registration now that they can be assigned to combat roles other than ground combat." Then again in In 1998, at the request of U.S. Senator Charles Robb (D-VA), ranking minority member of the Subcommittee on Readiness, Senate Armed Services Committee, the General Accounting Office (GAO) addressed a variety of questions related to gender equity in the military. GAO examined the issue from Selective Service cost and staffing points of view, recognizing that registration of women would require legislative action and operational and budgetary changes. "Selective Service System could register women if its authorizing legislation, the Military Selective Service Act, is amended to allow registering women," the report stated.

I think it is ironic that the majority of people who have been fighting against the war in Iraq may be the very people that find themselves getting drafted at some point in time.

I have to wonder if they had supported our President instead of continually undermining the efforts in Iraq if the possibility of a new draft being imposed would have even been a consideration.

I guess they will only have themselves to blame for this one.

The Democrats keep talking about having one and they run the show, so look out! Amazing since most of them were against the draft before, go figure. Guess it has to do with a free-will military not bending to their ideas (since so many soldiers are Republicans).
Guess we'll be back to the Good Old Days of Jimmy Carter God bless his Palestininan loving soul.

I am so sick and tired of reading questions on the draft. There will be no draft. If you are wondering about it, beat it to the punch and enlist

if there is a big enough world war III yes

the American military is currently too weak

soon, Russia, China, Iran, and the rest of the middle east are going to attack Israel, and it is our job to protect it

so very much likely
but be proud when your drafted

Well if the U.S.uses the nuclear option on Iran you wont have to worry about the draft. You might have to worry about the Russian
reaction however. In fact america better start worrying about that right now.
