I have had some trauma in my life and I have the need to cry - often unfortunately. I actually cry pretty hard and it has left my eyes red and very very puffy and swollen. Other than cool compresses or ice and Visine, what can I do? They are puffy on the lids and there are now bags underneath my eyes as well. I've been careful applying makeup, but the puffiness still shows and it looks like I've been crying. I have to go to work and other places and I don't want people to know how upset I am or to ask questions.

i use cold eye gel...like the olay clear eye gel. i put it in the fridge so it's cold when i need a lift. cold cucumbers work also. i even have these little packs that i got from bath and body works that i shove in the freezer for when my puff gets bad. for the cover-up i use this amazing product by benefit called lemon aid (you can get it from sephora). it's not like normal concealers, because it's yellow it neutralizes the red puffiness. i use it on the lids and undereye. it works fantastic for me. you should use a hypoallergetic mascara, like the lash tint from almay. or perhaps clinique's waterproof mascara. that way when you do cry it won't horribly screw up your makeup and upset your eyes more than they already are. and always wear an eye cream to bed.

you also might want to get professional help to work out the traumatic incident that's been making you cry so much. if you can work out problems then you might not have to worry about your eyes anymore. being consistantly sad doesn't just hurt you emotionally, it also takes a toll on your body and face. a sad person (constantly frowning) usually get's more unflattering wrinkles and lines. something to keep in mind. eyes are just the beginning. don't let this negativity continue for too much longer. good luck.

Cold compresses are the best for puffyness, but I like to use this cooling gel from Mary Kay. It's called Indulge Soothing Eye Gel. Works great, especially if you use it out of the freezer.

Sorry to hear about your trauma.
Cut down on your sodium intake and drink more water, and keep up the cool compresses.
Hope you feel better soon.

As about the puffy little places Use the hot strained tea leaves a compress on your eyes after you have had the tea.and when retiring to bed do use creams below your eye for those dark circles. The ayurvedic ones are better. Hakuna Matata Don't worry be happy.

stop crying. good lord, how old are you? no seriously, cold water does the trick for my girlfriend. she is pregnant, therefore emotional, therefore cries a lot. just don't wear makeup and carry a rag in a ziplock bag
