In this relationship that is going great! Recently my BF got his divorce court date and things have been very stressful for him. I have done all that I think I can do to support him and let him know that because of our love - even if it's just that he needs me to listen - I will & have. Lately he seems distant and less comunicative & I sort of understand why (maybe he feels as though he's "dumping" on me) - In any case, it appears as if he is keeping his distance from me and he's starting to drink a bit and fall into a greater depression, just as all his S*#t is about to hit the fan - is there anything I can do to get him to open up or should I just back way off till after the fire is put out?

Let him give you a verbal diagram of your position in his troubles. Tell him you are available to him for emotional support, but you don't want to seem like you are hovering over him. Some men in troubled situations are able to cope alone, or with a little help.
If he cares about you which it sounds like he does, tell him you want to know how and if you can help. Divorce is devestating to one whether there are children or not. All in all it is a huge failure and we as humans have different way to deal with that. Good luck. and Hang in there.

I think if you just let him know that you are there for him is good. Don't push too hard, he is dealing with some very bad stuff right now. I would also suggest him seeing a shrink. Just to "talk it out" with a pro. You should continue to invite him out to movies and out to dinner and skating and stuff to keep him from falling deeper into his depression. This is going to be a difficult time, don't feel shunned by him, he has a lot to deal with right now!

I think the only thing you can do is give him some space and just be there if he needs someone to talk to.
I may just be his way of getting over a divorce

The reality has set in....The divorce is going to be final. Believe it or not he is going to grieve his lost marriage all over again. Whether it was good or bad. It is a loss. Just be patient with him. Don't ask questions, just be there. Hug him, tell him you love him. Give him time, he will come around.

i think you have to step back a little because your boyfriend have
larger problems than the divorce,he is self detructive, started drinking, he needs proffesional help at once.
