I usually wait till I have the cat for a few days. After playing with them and petting them and seeing different things about how they act and play something usually just comes to me.
My cat's name is Doug, because he just kind of looked like a Douglas.

I named my cats after Broadway Musical characters, Roger and Benjy. The names happen to be perfect. I waited a few days before naming them. Eventually after playing around with various names, these names stuck.

You could take your cat's name from it's personalility, or maybe from what it looks like. My cat is named Lynx because as a kitten she had the little tufts of fur on the end of her ears as well as the fact that she had the tabby markings of a lynx.
I had one cat name Wilbur... he was a big fuzzy white and gray cat, was very very ditzy, not very smart, but super loving... Wilbur just seemed to fit.
Give it a week... it will come to you.

well what does your cat do or look like. if it has a special marking than think of something to go along with that like boots if it has all white feet. If it does anything cute that name it after that like pouncer if it pounces alot be creative my cats name is lollipop

mine are Vincent and Magic and another I know named Tygger. A friend called hers Sox because it had all white paws.
