Wellbutrin is the trade name, Bupropion is the generic name. It is used for treatment of depression or in some cases as an aid to stop smoking(it is supposed to decrease the craving for ciggs.) The medication is not a new and has been known to help alot of people. I don't know why your docter has put you on it,but a good place to find further information is to simply talk to your pharmacist. They can provide you with anything you need to know.

Wellbutrin is an antidpressant and is the same med that Zyban is except that when they call it Zyban it is used to help people stop smoking. Read the leaflet that came with your Wellbutrin to lear about the side effects of this med. If you accidently through that leaflet out that the pharmacy gave you then just read the info at the website online. The pros of using the med are help with your depression or whatever you are supposed to take the medication for. I can't think of any cons if the medication works.

I took it for a couple of months for depression. I noticed right away that it caused urinary retention - meaning that I felt like I had to urinate, but when I got to the bathroom, I couldn't let the urine flow. This was somewhat painful and annoying for a couple of weeks, but then it stopped gradually. I did notice too that of all the anti-depressants I tried, it worked the fastest for me.

You should ask the pharmacist for a package insert as it has the most complete information on side effects, etc..

Go to www.webmd.com and search the medication. I took Welbutrin and had side effects such as a rapid heart beat.. It has different effects on different people.
