My MOhter and I have discussed this a few times. And I'm not speaking of experiencing the fact that one may have been a long time member of a certain church.
You know how some churches have this "extra" positive aura about them, or just feel "holier" in some way?
And it doesn't have anything to do with "visuals" either--statues, or decor, ect. It could be a small church or an small old temple, ect.
Just a "feeling" that really hits you once you walk in, while some other's just feel nothing either way.
Do you/did u ever experience what I'm talking about?

The "feeling that hits you" is God's presence. You only want to attend a church where you get that feeling when you walk in the door. Otherwise God is not in that place.

I totally know how u feel, ive had the same experience...I was catholic by fam tradition, but it never felt right, so then i went to roughly about 5 or so other churches til i felt the feelin ur describin; i felt it real strong like being close to God....why do some churches have that feelin and others dont, thats a hard one to answer but that feelin u felt is the holy spirit, it brings feelings of joy, comfort, and all around happiness; u can feel this feelin anytime u want just try to constantly have a close relationship with God and that spirit will be with u!....I feel the spirit when i hear someone talkin of God, his love and of all the things that are true and real!...So i hope this helps, people go to church to be better, so if a specific church doesnt have this feelin it doesnt mean its inferior or unholy, sometimes this feelin is strong and sometimes its soft, so yep good luck with all this!

YES, I certainly have. It seems to me that when a "church" gets too big or the members are just there to worship and nothing else then this is what happens to them. We have a vibrant group of people at our Church. We follow GOD's WRITTEN WORD to the letter and do nothing without scriptural authority to do so. We also gather and talk before and after services. We have a very diverse group of people from all ages and community standing. We enjoy being with one another and have fun doing things together even when we are not in service at Church.

Many churches are places for social gatherings under the guise of worshiping a god. Some churches are actually full of people who are Christ filled. I believe those are the churches that you say you "feel" something as soon as you walk in. If a church is more concerned about how much you put in the plate or what you are wearing Sunday morning then I would have to wonder what their real agenda is?

Its not really the "church" its those that have or think they have status within the church. Most with wealth think their chit don't stink, therefore they walk around as if they are sinless.

I know many like this... I try to stay clear of them. Pray for them... what they have now can quickly be taken from them... read the book of Job.

That's the aura of pride that all humans give off. Just like when you walk into an opposing team's stadium, the adherents to that particular church view their church as the best, and therefore view themselves as superior. Its an unfortunate thing because it turns people off of the one Person that can change their lives.

I think it has to do with the people that run and attend it, and i think it has to do with prayer, lots of praying together in the particular church, for the lost, for the church, etc.

Yes, I think I know what you mean.
I have been in all kinds of churches, and the presence of God is most noticable in a Catholic church, even when it is empty. Maybe its because our Jewish heritage still shows, (sanctuary lamp, tabernacle, altar), or the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

It's not the church or religion, it's the people who feel holier.

"My God is the ONLY God and if you don't believe what I tell you to believe, then you are going to hell." It is the arrogance of humans that messes up religions.

My favorite bumper snicker- "God is TOO BIG for any ONE religion!!"
