Some would say no: After all, God ordered mass murders and genocides...and committed a few personally according to the Bible. Therefore the answer would have to be no.
Of course, one might choose to ask the question: "How do I know that God actually sanctioned these murders? How do I know that the Generals of the day didn't simply tell this to their soldiers to motivate them?"
You'd probably have gotten strung up for asking the question at all, but hanging isn't an answer.
BTW: The quote about George Bush claiming that God had told him to invade Iraq has a highly quesionable source. I'd advise against relying on it.

Murder is murder...period.
If George Bush said that God told him to invade Iraq, first of all I'm not sure that he's telling the truth, and secondly I don't believe in a Divine license to kill.
It seems highly unlikely to me that God would involve himself in human squabbles, let alone sanction the killing of many people.

Murder is the intention, unjustified killing of an innocent person. This precludes accidents, actions in war, court ordered executions, self defense and defense of others.
In wartime, although innocents are often killed, it is not the practice of the US military, as a whole, to intentionally target civilians, thus these killings are not murder. When a soldier or soldiers cross that line, and I believe in an extremely high threshold, then those individuals need to held accountable.
The recent persecution of American soldiers in Iraq, who, by virtually all accounts were well within the rules of engagement, to be forced into 'confessions' by being threatened with death penalties is dispicable. Soldiers cannot be expected to fight a war without being able to use their weapons or with such strict rules of engagement that they have no chance of survival in a fire fight.

Of course it is ! Whenever a person or an entity cannot morally justify immoral behaviour, they invariably hide behind the name of God ! This applies to slavery, to the Inquisition, to suicide-bombers, the Crusades, Sharia Law etc. and many other examples too numerous to name.

Yes, that's how the Spanish Inquisition was fought, in "God's name." It's used by leaders to justify these acts, but I'm sure God doesn't appreciate people killing each other and using him as an excuse for it.

Jesus said to bless those that curse you, love thy enemies and turn the other cheek. The father would not dispute the son because he was his word made flesh. In my opinion anyone who kills murders or hurts someone in the name of God will have to answer for it in the end...
As for Bush hes a idiot...

God specifically said to love one another, dont hate your brother but love him, thou shall not murder. killing in war is murder no matter how MANY ways you view it, it is taking away a life that does NOT belong to you, but belongs to God alone. He gave us life so what we can do in return is show sanctity for life. What im trying to say is what Bush said is not from God, in the scriptures it says " Far be it from the almighty to act unjustly". So it would definetly not have been God.

I do not believe he said that. show us the quote, wipe that smirk off your face.
God says vengeance is His, He does not tell us to kill anyone, so if we kill in His name, it is worse than if we kill in the name of Satan, or any other being.
If you take the stand that ending someones life is murder, than God is a murderer, because He gives us our every breath, and determines the day of our death.
Didn't God tell Israel to invade other countries and take no hostages?

No, its not alright to Kill in the name of God. And those who do it, regardless of thier faith are wrong in doing so as no faith that I am aware of has a God that rules we should kill in their name.
