Have a stew recipe that calls for 4 tbsp. of tapioca, for thickening. Any suggestions?

Tapioca is used as a substitute for corn starch or flour in thickening a recipe. Simply use one of these in place of it.
INGREDIENT 1 Tbls. cornstarch
SUBSTITUTE
2 Tbls. flour or 1 1/3 Tbls. quick-cooking tapioca


INGREDIENT
1 Tbls. flour
SUBSTITUTE 1/2 Tbls. cornstarch or 2 tsp. quick-cooking tapioca

1 1/2 Tbls. all-purpose flour

Tapioca, quick-cooking for thickening 1tbsp = 1 tbsp of flour

I am making strawberry rhurbarb pie and it calls for 3 tblsp of tapioca.. I don't have tapioca .. I do have cornstarch and do have flour.. what is best to us and the amt..

Cassava root is a starch so corn starch or Wondra flour will work in it's place

When your meat is cooked, before adding any liquid, put in 4 Tbs of flour and stir well and brown slightly. Then add liquid, slowly while you stir. Finish as usual.

You can try corn starch. I like it better than flour because I think it thickens better.
