Please could you tell me where i can download a free player that will play wmv and mpeg movie clips on my apple macbook pro (MacOS X)

Well, Quicktime which you already have will play mpeg files. You can also download Windows Media Player for MAC. If media player is no longer available, try VLC, it is free and can be downloaded at download.com.

MPlayer OS X 2 is a good media player alongside the ones already listed. You will be able to find it if you go to www.macupdate.com
