I think it's horrific that prostitution is made legal in some countries. It is just pure and simple exploitation of women (and men) and the vast majority of them only do it because they are drug addicts or being held captive. People smuggling brings hundreds of young women into the country with no protection or access to health services and they are assaulted on a daily basis with no hope of escape. It's sickening and any man that has sex with a prostitute is abusing her.

Anyone that says men need to go somewhere to relieve their sexual urges, haven't you heard of your hand?

Legalized prostitution helps women to the degree that it requires licensing and routine medical exams thereby helping 1) the prostitute, who may safely practice her trade in an open and safe environment, 2) the client, who is much less likely to get a communicable disease, and 3) the "innocent family members", who are less likely to get a communicable disease from their husbands. As prostitution is going to be practiced anyway, why not protect the "family members" from disease?

FYI: prostitution is hardly new or novel, and it has been legal in a variety of places at various times, and the world hasn't quite ended yet.

Prostitution has been around since the beginning of the human race. Ever since people figured out that they can get money for sex, they've been getting money for sex. As for the countries that are making prostitution legal, it certainly makes it harder for pimps to get a hook into girls and abuse them, doesn't it? It will also help stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases if there isn't the stigma to prostitution that there is now.

As for breaking up families, I can say with absolute certanty that my boyfriend would never cheat on me with a prostitute, so families that "succumb" to the legalization of prostitution clearly weren't very strong to begin with. The only thing legalization of prostitution does is recognize that it's something we're never going to get rid of, so we'd better regulate it to prevent women from getting killed and children from getting sucked into prostitution rings.

Prostitution has been acceptible long before the bible was compiled in 365 AD. Prostitutions has probablly saved many marriages. And prevented many rapes. No it is not a "sign". Prostitution should be legal and strictly controled to prevent disease. Morallity should never be forced on others except to prevent harm to innocent people.

let us see. Prostitution is going to happen anyway, whether legal or not. Lonely men + girls without money = opportunity.

It has been happening since the beginning of times too, and it will be with us until the end of times (which, thankfully, has nothing to do with the notion of 'judgment day')

Given that fact, would you rather these poor women/men enjoy some sort of protection under the law, or would you have them dwell in the netherworld of crime lords?

And what of these lonely men who can't find a mate or some other way to release these urges? What do you think would happen if they didn't have the release prostitution offers?

Prostitution is NOT okay. It never was. It never will be. It is a sign that governments are corrupt and, yes, judgement day is coming. The thing is that governments represent the people that elect them. So if a government is corrupt, it was likely elected by a corrupt people. What can you do? You do not have to show tolerance for sin. Now you don't have to be a jerk about it, but don't invest your time, energy or money in things which are wrong. And yes, black is still black and white is still white.

No, this is not a sign.

Not that I agree with prostitution of any kind, but how exactly is it the prostitute's fault if a family is broken up? Why doesn't the husband ever get the blame? He's the one who strayed, and he's the one who paid.

why is it free to give away but illegal to charge for it? I don't get it.

Religion aims to control every aspect of a person in society. It aims to control their every action.

This is no different. Relgious views on prostitution do not account for the individuals choice to accept payment for sex or the choice to pay for it. It is simply an act that has free will. Religion does not allow that. An individual must act according to the rules of the church. Anything outside of that is a sin and punishable by hellfire and eternal damnation...
this easily fits into that subset..

i dunno..the sociey progresses in such a way. Ethics or stigmas r defined and percieved differently by one's own value. It has been legal for some, as far as i know, since ancient rome. Senates created the laws for the romans, but the senate also saw the needs of prostitution for the sake of themselves and their soldiers, so there was no way they would ban it...how do you make a heart shape in your nick? its nice..

Prostitution has existed as long as mankind has existed. At different times and eras and in different locations, it has been an important part of societal norms, a tolerated activity and a scrouge to society.

I don't think, because of the history of prostitution, that it would be a predictor of any judgment day.
