I'm meeting a man I've been talking to online and want to make a great first impression. What should I wear to look the best? I'm in good shape and wanted to wear a skirt and high heels. What do you men think? Would jeans be better? The restaurant we're going to is casual so anything would be appropriate.

Go with the skirt

I'm 46. The skirt and heels are fine. In reality, the better you dress indicates what you think about this guy. It reflects how making the right impression is important.

Worse comes to worst, ask him. Tell him, "I'm thinking of wearing such-and-such. Do you think it is too much?"

Wear something that you are comfortable in. If it’s a first date, it’s likely that you are going to be nervous enough so the last thing you should be worrying about are loose straps, an itchy pair of pants, or proper top coverage.

Wearing blue jeans is too informal, and wearing something satin, plunging or too dolled up is inappropriate for a lunch. It’s always easiest to stick with basics and from there pick your favorite accessory to personalize the look.

Just one last bit of advice - don’t forget to at least offer to pay for your meal. You definitely don’t have to treat, but there’s nothing tackier than poor manners. Just have fun, relax and be yourself. There’s nothing more attractive than a sense of humor and a genuine smile. Let your inner beauty show through!

What YOU're most comfortable in...I'm in my 40's, and date online. If the woman is nervous and uncomfortable, I'll pick up on that, and it can be misinterpeted quickly.
If he's a gentleman at all, he's going to be thrilled you took the time and effort to meet, and want you to be as comfortable as possible. When you're both comfortable, you're going to see each other much more realistically, too, and enjoy yourselves more..
I wish you the best for your meeting!

The main thing is for you to be comfortable, and not to worry too much on your clothing. Yea, it is important, because I am a firm believer that your first impression, is a lasting one. But just be comfortable and everything will fall into place. Good Luck and enjoy lunch. Give us an update???

I'm 42... Either would be fine with me. I love jeans on a woman, and I love skirts. Just don't wear a "skort." You know, those shorts disguised as a skirt. I HATE those things! Such a rip-off...

Wear the jeans. If you wear a skirt, he's not going to notice the inner you, he's going to spend the whole day holding down his jewel.

I'm 38, so close enough.

My instinct is that you don't want to overdress beyond what you think he'll wear. You know him, I don't. Skirt and heels doesn't sound intimidatingly overdressy. I'm sure he'll kick it up a notch if he's usually a jeans guy.
