Why is this the most hateful section on yahoo answers? I have never seen so many people ask hateful disrepecting questions? I do not understand? Why do keep bashing each other. Athiest, if you do not believe why do constantly challenge if you are content, obviously you are not. I am content and I think it is sad this site allows such nonsense.

You'll have to admit it causes Christians to defend their faith.

Aren't we supposed to be ready to defend our faith to everyone who asks?

This keeps us in practice.

It also give pastors good illustrations for sermons.

Yes. There are many hateful questions posted here for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of "believers." They are not hateful because they are disagreeing with believers they are hateful because they are insulting and demeaning. Recent examples: "How can I prove the bible is full of crap?" "Do you have a Koran? I need to take a dump." Those are not made up. Those were actual questions. If someone can explain the legitimate purpose for them, I'd be happy to "listen"

That said not all questions posted by Atheists are hateful. You find interesting and well thought out questions from them. The key is to ignore those that ARE hateful and limit your self to responding equally as thoughtfully to those.

Maybe if we all, including myself, stop responding to the stupid questions they'll get tired and stop asking.

Sad, but nobody teaches manners anymore. So, most people find it acceptable to be rude or just plain stupid. What bugs me most is the Atheists answering Christian only questions and the Christians answering Islam only question, etc. If you are just going to say something nasty about the person asking the question then don't bother answering at all.

Side note: Religion doesn't start wars, people start wars. Religion just happens to be a convenient excuse because any counter argument can be ignored as blasphemy

your a christian asking this? well now i can state why do christian fundies come on here bashing atheism and non christians alike all the time? you need to understand that you are being bashed for your religions karma from the past 1700 years or so because your history has killed and destroyed many things over that time frame. christianity is a hate cult due to the fanatics i see on here but dont disown them because they are yours as well. i would never disown any one who was a spiritualist who went and killed some one just because they could i would accept them and then say they are the evil side of the same religion i believe in. reality of it is as i said christianity is desturbing at best. christian fundies/fanatics are yours and yours alone and if a act is done by one of your own learn to accept them and move on and do not make the same mistakes as they did.

I'll answer. Why the hatred? Coz religion is what starts most wars and has from the beginning of time. Plus the most evil people on the earth are judgemental, christians who worship a vengeful, ego-drivin god that wont accept them unless its on his terms. Maybe thats why the huge attack on religion. Nobody seems to be attacking the love based religions as much i.e. eastern religions.

While I do agree that this is one of the most hateful areas on Answers, I think you are jumping to confused conclusions to think that the Atheists are the only ones spouting hatred. (And NO, I'm NOT an Atheist)

Atheists come here and give their version of truth partly for the same reason that other people come on here and say "I'm sorry for your soul, I'll pray that you'll see the truth before you die and burn in Hell" (and YES, that was aimed at those fundies. Not all Christians are this way, and your actions lead to spreading generalizations of Christians. And again, NO, I'm NOT a Christian either.)

Another reason Atheists come here is to correct what the greater part of the world sees as fact. If you saw someone spouting out to the public that Washington D.C. were in Washington State (Yes, I've known people to believe this), wouldn't you feel a sense of duty to correct them, even to show them a map? Same goes with the age of the Earth, Evolution (even on a small scale, if not the large one, I'm not debating), and the Theory of Gravity (which I KNOW you don't think of as a theory, but it still is!). There are still people out there who don't believe that we landed on the moon, but rather filmed it on a sound stage in Hollywood. Just as there are people out there who make sweeping generalizations about Christians that AREN'T true for most of you!

And finally, perhaps they challenge because of the number of "Christians" (and you know what I mean by putting that in quotes) who have spouted nothing but hatred or racism or sexism to other HUMANS. This is usually part of the reason that many of them start heading off the path from their religion of birth - the sheer HATRED they have seen in their fellow humans, but then the act of being "holier than thou" (if you will) because they follow a "man who teaches peace, love, etc etc". And while most Christians do not act like this (at least the ones I've come across), there ARE people out there who act this way. Just as there are people out there of OTHER religions who act this way.

The only way for this section to become the LEAST hateful area is for everyone to just decide that everyone else's religious choices are equally valid, regardless of whether or not they're YOUR practice. (That goes for EVERYONE!) But I realize that that simple idea would be akin to one ant moving a mountain in a day....just isn't going to happen so long as there are people out there who think that ONLY their way is right. Everyone has had different experiences. You might like green beans, but I hate them, and you'll never change my mind on it. So it's better, if you make them, just to eat them yourself and not be offended if I don't. At least you'll have leftovers, right? *grin*

i agree! every person is entitled to his or her own opinion! I think that some people on this website really don't care if they are helping other people, but just do it out of boredom because they have nothing else to do in their real lives... maybe they like to spend their days bashing people's beliefs on here just so they can think they've made someone mad. 'tis sad... very sad.

if anyone didn't like the hateful responses they wouldn't ask such questions that asked for a hateful response. athiests aren't the only mean people on here btw. i'd have to give that blue ribbon to the christians. most, not all of them of course.

Because I am tired of the hypocrisy that christianity brings into the United States. Say one thing do another. You can link every war throughout history to a difference between who’s god is the ‘Right’ god to believe in. If there was a god I am sure this is not what he had in mind.

Don't be discouraged. God can use even this forum to bring unbelievers unto Himself. Something we say here might just lodge in someones heart and open their mind up to see the truth about the One and Only Living God.
