Are you kidding? You're going to volunteer in order to meet people? Even worse, you're going to do it by searching some sort of listing created specifically for this? It's not like I don't understand what and why you're attempting to handle it this way but don't you think that you should just pick something you're passionate about? I say you take your chances on meeting someone there and just enjoy the experience of giving your time to something you care about. Besides, if you do meet someone, you'll know that they're there for that same reason.

I volunteer through my local volunteer center. It's been a great experience, and I've met several people with a wide variety of community interests. I lead a couple of volunteer projects at our local library tutoring children, at the local children's shelter, and at the local museum.

I highly recommend volunteering in your community through your volunteer center. They offer many one-time, short-term, and long-term opportunities.
Good luck!

I work at a non profit and have found that a large variety of age groups participate in many different volunteer activities, but have found that lots of that age group likes to get involved in Young Professionals activitites. Here in Cincinnati, we have YP groups for many nonprofits, YP group for American Cancer Society, YP group for big brothers and sister, YP group for AVOC. Check out online whether your city has something similar. Young professional groups are great for meeting people and networking.
