i've just started work at a club, and i suck at pulling pints of larger, cider, bitter, etc! i've been told you have to have at a 45 degree's angle and then slowly decrease the angle, and then add the head, but it always turns out to be a disaster for me. any tips?

Just take your time and it will come to you. Its a lot harder than it looks sometimes, especially the real ales but you'll soon get the knack!

1.Use a clean glass
2.Hold your Glass at 45 degree angle and aim for the middle of the slope of the glass
3.At the half-way point bring the glass at a 90 degree angle and continue to pour in the middle of the glass.

Remember not to let the nozzle touch the beer as this is cross contamination and a big no no, so no cheating and shoving it into the beer if your heads to big!

Taking your time = less wastage
Less wastage = happy boss
Happy boss = pay rise!!
Pay rise = happy bar person
Happy bar person = Good beer
Good beer = Happy customers!!

Most importantly relax and enjoy...

Fay has a good tip list there ...

A big thing is be sure the Glass is at the same temp at the beer.

a hot glass = hot head beer
frozen glass= Cold head beer

the prefect beer is in a glass of the same temp and will not head up on you as it is poured.
