What I mean is, in health class its mandatory they educate you about the dangerous things that you can do to yourself such as smoking, drinking and drugs. Obesity can also kill you and cause numerous health problems, but most people don't realize that. Should they also teach about it in order to help people make choices?

I dont think it should be "Mandatory" but i do think that they should show it. I just heard that child obesity is up 70%, and showing them stuff like that might help to help kids make better choices. So yes i do think they should make it mandotory to "teach" about obesity.

Yeah, maybe. I know it made a small difference to me. I used to eat McDonald's a lot when I was younger, and I didn't think fast food was that unhealthy... then we rented Supersize Me and oh my god!! Nasty! Now the thought of McDonald's just makes me want to throw up. I'm a pretty weird person though so I don't know if it's just me or if it would make a difference to anyone else either. It's a good movie either way. I rarely ever eat out now, and I never go to McDonald's. Schools need all new videos anyways, those old "I got my period for the first time" videos are very bad... and don't help. They need to get with it and realize things have changed a lot since the 70s when they made those tapes... in most schools anyways. They could show it in Phys-Ed or in Health, either way, it's still all about your body. Phys-Ed is physical education... it's more Health related but either way, they could squeeze it in. Yes, obesity can kill you. It's probably more dangerous than drinking alcohol... Supersize Me proved that fast food (when you over do it) is just as unhealthy as drinking actually. Obesity causes all sorts of problems. Smoking and drinking does too, but they're all equally unhealthy and we already have enough smoking and drinking warnings, but you don't see people trying to tell you to watch what you eat nearly as much as telling you not to drink and drive or smoke.

YES! Supersize Me is a great documentary. My son's school shows it in their science classes as part of their health unit. There is a package available for schools on the Supersize Me website. It provides a number of materials in addition to the DVD for schools to use as education.

Thats a great movie, I laughed and was kinda shocked at the results of a McDiet. Sugar and Salt on white bread does not appeal to me as much as it used to.

Its affects are only tempory. They are hooked on fast food and they will make the same excuses to eat it again as I do. But they should show it.
