To me, from an outside perspective, I can't think of many examples in which an organized religion has really promoted women. Maybe Epsicopalians, because they support the ordination of women....

Just look at the Baptists, who have openly come out against having female preachers.

Look at the Muslim and Amish Communities where women have to wear veils.

Do you think the Dali Lama would ever be a woman? Even Scientology is focused around a guy. Muhammed, Jesus, and Moses were all men, no surprise there. Do you think an orgainzed religion would ever be focused around a woman?

So women, my question is this. Why do you put up with these stupid religions that seem to be so focused on keeping you one step behind men?

I like fourmorebeers' answer: Stockholm Syndrome.

At rock bottom, it's because men are usually physically bigger and more aggressive than women, and they can beat us up if we don't do what they say.

Usually, they prefer sneakier ways to get what they want....insulting us, questioning our femininity, comparing us unfavorably to more obedient women, withdrawing affection and approval, etc.

Eventually, you've got a whole bunch of women who obey a religion because they're afraid if they don't, no man will "want" them, and other women will think they're "weird" and not want to associate with them.

I'd personally love to see every patriarchal religion in the world lose ALL its female members. What would all those men do without women to cook and clean for their pastors and their houses of worship....organize fundraisers....indoctrinate children...manage church choirs.....make altars pretty.....wash the priest's clothes...etc?

The men would be so busy with domestic tasks that they'd no longer have time to interfere with other people's lives.

Unquestioning obedience is for slaves.

I guess its beacuse women have been 2nd class citizens for centuries. It wasnt that long ago women actually won the right to vote.
There are a lot of strong historical females in history. The most famous of all being mary magdalene ( sry about spelling )
Men are stronger than women, so as history and religeon evolve women always take a back seat.
Remeber :: behind every great man there has to be a great woman .

there's a non secular route that no longer only recognized the equality of ladies yet deifies the gender both with adult adult males. And what may that be? Wicca. i do not positioned up with the monotheist patriarchal BS. females are considered necessary. they're needed. they're, without question, equivalent. hence, i'm Wiccan and more than satisfied to be such.

This is one of the major reasons I left Christianity.

I go to church to participate in worshipping God. Who the preacher is, makes no difference to me as long as the Word of God is being preached. I have no desire to preach, that's not what God has called me to do.

btw, I'm Baptist

I don't know. No one should follow any organized religion. They should follow Christ.
