I'm an historian, love early aviation... When my wife and I were married, we went with springtime in France during WW I. My favorite restaurant is a chain, theme restaurant -- The 94th Aero Squadron. The outside looks like an old French farmhouse repleat with a couple of filed artillary peices and a German Triplane (Red Baron) out front. Cozy fieldstone fireplace in the lobby, etc.. We were wed in the rose garden out back on March 21st (the first day of spring). The wedding party were all dressed in period attire for the occasion. We'd invited 90 some odd guests to witness the event. Get the picture?
So, for your wedding, what about a malt shop or a drive-in? You might even go the extra mile and invite the local car club to bring their hot rods -- 1950s muscle cars... Possibly have one of them "chauffer" you away after the wedding and reception. Have fun with it. Oh, and ours only cost us $5,000! So, don't feel you have to break the bank and go deep in debt to have agreat time and a lasting memory. Best wishes!

Why not look at somepictures of famous people who had weddings during the 50's so you can get an idea of how wedding styles were in the 50's

My half sister had this theme when she renewed her vows to her husband. They had a 50s theme. She wore this pink poodle skirt dress that had white polka dots. He was a "greaser" and wore jeans and a black leather jacket. It was a hit! They also had their original wedding party and they were all dressed as greasers or in poodle skirts.
What made it even more funny is they did this in Vegas. They were married by a "jailhouse rock" Elvis impersonator.

Kewl! Yeah, go with polka dots and poodle skirts - you are going to have such FUN planning! Don't have specific websites in mind, but google the 50s fashions and decor and go nuts! Hope you are going to serve a "blue plate special", too! Good luck!

OMG! you are a girl after my own heart! I'm having a polka dot decor theme goin with my wedding! first have you girls in tea length really puffy skirted dresses, I would say poodle skirts, but nah.....you should go more formal 50's and thats more what they did, my cake is white with black polka dots on it, my bridesmaids dresses are black with small white polka dots on them, (got them from alfred angelo, they discontinued the long version that my girls are wearing, but they still have a tea length version i believe that you might like-www.alfredangelo.com) and my centerpeices are hot pink gerbera daisy topiary balls on white and black polka dotted flower pots that I painted, they were super easy to do and you don't necessarily have to do topiaries, you could just have arrangements in them....bubblegum pink, turqoise and black would look really good and seem like a 50's color combo. have records as placemats on the tables, and maybe even have polka dotted table cloths....super cute!

I don't think you need to go polka dots. I've looked at a few pics from the 50's and it looks like dresses are similar. Lots of petticoats and the like.

Here's a sample. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be lovely.
Congratulations. Have fun!!!

How cute and different. Love it.
How about a soda shop theme reception. You can get old LP at a junk store and hang from the celing.
Watch happy days and get some ideas too.

Hair can be wavy or quiff think dita von teese or Grease for inspiration. Food can be either very posh or finger food depending on whether the look is glamorous (will they be wearing gloves?)....I would go to a burlesque theme night to see for yourself or fashion museum as then you can see stuff in the flesh rather than on the internet.
