Could be doing your business, getting dressed, stepping out of the shower... anything that involves naked-ness. I personally think it's worse to walk in on someone, because then I don't want to look at them the rest of the day, whereas if someone walks in on me I usually just wave at them and grin and they run away all sheepish. So which is it for you?

Hmmmm... After an hour the score, counting my opinion, is:

Walking in - 7
Being walked in on - 6
Neutrals -2
(up all night's is actually waking in because he/she is not the person "whipping" stuff out). Interesting...

Hey, I'M a secret listener... I resemble that remark! LOL

Definitely walking in on someone is worse. You just feel really bad and totally embarassed because you know you screwed up big time.

Being walked in on, because then it's your fault. Showers, restrooms, they have this nifty feature called a 'lock', and any adult is supposed to use it. So if they don't, and I walk in on them, I really don't feel the least bit embarrased, it's their problem. On the other hand, if I ever forgot, and someone would walk in on me, I'd feel bad 'cause it's fully my fault.

In another thread about walking in on someone a lot of people mentioned they usually knock on restroom doors but I'm 38, have lived both in the US and the Netherlands and I've NEVER known ANYONE who knocked first... well unless we knew the lock was broken but we'd get it fixed pretty quick, it wouldn't be like that for weeks or months. So lock your door and if someone doesn't do that, shrug it off 'cause it's not your fault!

Trust me, it's being walked in on. I have a part time job cleaning the restrooms at a hospital and sometimes old men walk in on me cleaning the restroom and they don't care, they whip it right out and I am running out of there! A couple times I have been trapped in a stall because I was cleaning it and I saw a pair of shoes walk up right beside it to use the urinal and they know I'm in there and don't care. They have to step over my caddy with cleaning supplies wedged in the door, so I know that they know I'm in there. It's gross.

Both are embarrassing. The worst though would probably be.... walking in on someone. It would stay with you not only the rest of the day but every time you saw that person too.

Definitely the first one - walking in on someone. I've never done that except of my my family members (totally accidentally so I don't count situations like that). This summer when I was in Greece my friend's father walked in on me in the bathroom and he was pretty embarrassed. After that he was shouting and my friend that she didn't tell him that someone was inside. He was angry and I was laughing like a crazy :-)
