I would suggest checking with your doctor first. If they are unable to point you towards an immediate cause, then you should consider that it could be a reaction to a chemical allergy. The EPA states that our indoor air is 2-5 times more polluted than our outdoor air. During the winter months people, especially children, can really suffer due to these chemical allergies. If you'd like more info, feel free to email me. You can also check out the links :o) I hope she feels better soon!

Please do not administer anti-histamines yourself. Take her to see a doctor. To relieve the itching until you can see the doctor, give her a bath with baking soda and oatmeal. You can get collodial oatmeal at the discounters and drug stores or you can make your own by blending up a batch in the food processor. You cannot really cure hives, they either go away on their own or there are medications that manage them if they are chronic. Hives can be an allergic reaction to something she ate or came in contact with or they can be idiopathic which means they have no known origin. You do not want to give her anti-histamines before she sees the doctor so that he can determine the cause, see the hives and determine what is the best course of treatment. Some anti-histamines will only serve to make the situation worse.

Take her to the doctor, and keep in mind that it could be a food allergy.
When my son was three he started to come up in lumps - the first two times the doctor said it was chicken pox, then when it happened again I saw another doctor who said it was a food allergy. By trial & error we discovered he was allergic to eggs, but other things such as nuts and some food additives caused him to become hyper-active. He'd grown out of the eggs allergy by the time he was five, but I can still tell when he's had a fizzy drink .

Depending on her age you could try an antihistamine cream like anthisan or alternatively calamine lotion to reduce the itchiness.
It could be that she's had a viral infection and the infection is coming to an end, hence the rash now. If in doubt pop her up to the doctors-if you ring and say she has a rash they will get her in faster than if you don't.

Benadryl for the hives until you get to the doctor. It might be an allergic reaction to medication,or something she ate that she's allergic to,usually they'll have to do a patch test to find out exactly what she is allergic to.Hives can be serious the worst that can happen is an anaphylaxis reaction, where she can have serious complications that need to be taken care of immediately.

try antihistamines. Sedating ones will be best if she has troubling sleeping because of them.
Hives can be caused by many things: allergies, stress, cold. The best way to find out is to keep a diary to see if there are any common factors.

If u're into alternative medicine, look up for ganotherapy. The principles are simple, listing the source of the problems as firstly, the toxins (whatever not wanted) in her body and that the skin is trying to get rid of them, secondly because there is a malfunction somewhere in her body, which only her body knows. The cold is most probably her body preventing whatever it is seeking entry, or getting rid of whatever is already in her body.
Having identified the causes of the problem, the cure is then achieved by helping her to detoxify (get rid of the unwanted stuff, by taking mature ganoderma, now available in capsules) and getting her body to address all malfunctions (taking ganoderma mycelium, also available in capsule form). The cure is total, not just a temporary relief.

Take her to the doctor. Look at what she has eaten in the past 3 to 4 days or any chemicals she might have come in contact with in the same time frame. Don't just let this go!

Best way to cure them: Benedryl or other antihistamine containing diphenhydramine HCI (the active ingredient in Benedryl). You might also put Calamine lotion on the skin or give her a bath in Aveena (oatmeal powder added to water).

Hives are generally an allergic reaction to something. I agree with the first poster. Take her to the doctor. In the meantime you can give her children's Benadryl or you can use a topical like Calamine lotion.
