just make sure it has a good supply of water and feed him/her as normal for the rest of the day.

I agree with the others who said it depends on the amount of chocolate and the size of the dog . Some chocolate bars have very little real chocolate in them, look at the label. A web site says a lethal amount of sweet milk choc is 2oz per 2.2lb of body weight. dark chocolate is considered 10 times as lethal. If it is a small dog and a lot of dark chocolate I would get to the vet quick. All my dogs have had some chocolate usually when the kids left it around I have never had a problem. I hope everything is O.K. thinking of you

peroxide is in fact the common home remedy used to force a dog to throw up when it has eaten toxic foods to their system or even poisons which is what chocolate is to a dog. Chocolate in small quantity will probably be no problem. In most cases the dog with throw up naturally. I have been raising and breeding for over 40 years and on two occasions I have had to use peroxide to force a dog to throw up. One got ahold of rat poison the other from chocolate each due to kids not putting things away. In some cases charcoal is used, in more serious cases as it absorbs the poison in the stomach before it can reach the blood stream. In turn it then will force the dog to throw up.

Well if it is a Yorkie, I hope it didnt eat lot of it. Chocolate is not good for them and in large amounts. just watch it and if your dog has eaten massive amounts more than 1/2 of a bar, call the vet. go to the yellow pages and ask a vet. Dont wait. it can cause sugar highs and i know it dont feel good makes us feel sluggish and give some ppl diareah. dogs are much littler than us and their intestinal system is sensitive. good luck and keep us posted on how it is doing.

I wouldn't worry too much. Some dogs are allergic to chocolate
but not all. If your dog is sick or has diaohrea as a result of
eating chocolate then take it to a vet. I have never heard of dogs
dying from eating chocolates.

Is it a lot of chocolate??? if not dont worry, if it is like one bar it wont do him any harm all these people going mad are overreacting.. It might make him a little poorly, an upset stomach or something but if it was only a little choclate dont worry... Anless the dog looks unwell. Cos you know the vet will charge you 30 quid just to look at him!
Peace

If he's eaten chocolate it's not going to do anything to him unless hes eaten loads. Let him out and offer him grass to eat. strange i no but grass is medicine to the dogs stomach sometimes too much grass can make them sick of so they chocolate is likely to come up with it.

Just keep your eye on the dog and if he starts to look unwell then you should take him to the vet. As long as he hasn't eaten too much of it he should be ok. He might be sick so just make sure you give him plenty water afterwards and don't give him too much food later on if his stomach is unsettled. My dog is 14 and every now and then we give her a bit of chocolate as a treat - she will literally eat anything! So don't worry too much because no harm has ever come to my dog from it. If you're really worried then get a second opinion from your vet but otherwise just give him plenty of water and keep your eye on him.
Hope this helps x

It depends on how much s/he has eaten. If it's not very much then your dog should be ok, just definatly keep an eye on him/her. If your dog has eaten a lot you will probably want to call your vet and ask for some advice.

Depends on the amount. Chocolate is a big 'No No' for us canines, you might as well feed your dog poison. The chocolate will cause liver failure and kidney problems. I can only hope it was a small amount. If not get him to a vet asap as it can be treated if caught early enough. THIS IS SERIOUS!!!!

If it is only a little bit then it should be okay, but keep an eye on him. If he seems to get ill then take him to the vet immediately. Too much human chocolate can be fatal for a dog, but it does need to be quite a bit for them to get ill.
