I think playing and hurting someones feelings can go hand and hand unless the other person didn't care either way before the game began.

Just playing is fun, flirtatious, friendly, and for enjoyment. Hurting people's feelings is miserable, petty, spiteful, and horrid. The difference is both in the intention and the reception.

You can intend to 'just play' but actually hurt someone's feelings. When you're just playing, ask yourself "does the other person know I'm playing?" or "does the other person find this fun, too?"

If you're not sure (or if the answer is no) then it has moved beyond just playing. People may smile on the outside, but on the inside you may have hurt someone so terribly. And it's the hurt on the inside that lasts for such a long time, and people can grow up feeling horrible on the inside, just because "just playing" clearly wasn't.

No difference cuz playing with people's feelings do hurt them. The Bible says that you should do unto others as you would have others do unto you and I don't think that you would like people to play with your feelings.
