Just like everyone else stated: put water in a saucepan so that it covers the egg(s) and bring it to a boil. The only thing I do differently is I bought an egg timer that goes into the water when you put your egg(s) in and it will tell you exactly when the egg(s) is/are soft boiled, medium boiled, or hard boiled. No guess work. I'm sure you can buy this kind of timer at Target, Walmart, or any kitchen store. After you take the egg(s) off the stove, pour out the hot water and let cold water run over the egg(s) for a few minutes, this will make peeling them easier.

Hi this is an old quandry how to get an egg hard boiled so that when you peel it the light membraian will help you get the shell off with out destroying the egg right??
Here is the soulution. Fill a pot with cold water put your egg or eggs in. Place on the stove with fire, cover pot, as soon as the water gets to a rapid boil allow it to boil for about a min. more then turn it off. Now remove from stove and let it sit and cool for about 30 min . The 25 or 30 min you allow it to cool is basicaly the cook time. Then put the pot in the sink and run yur cold water into it cooling it all down..Now you have an egg that has the membrain you can goof around with the cooling down time but i found that at least 20 min seems to cook the egg properly so i throw in an extra 10 to make sure. Bon appetite.

Put the eggs in a pot, cover, and bring to a boil. Once the water begins to boil turn off the burner but leave the covered pot on the stove. Allow the eggs to sit in the hot water for an additional 15 minutes. Makes perfect hard boiled eggs every time.

Bring a pot of water to a boil and put eggs in to cook for 15 mins . Extend it to 20 minutes if you put the eggs in before the water is boiling.

Follow this, it works 100% everytime.

Put your eggs in your pot, fill with hot water to cover the eggs. Cover and bring to a boil. Let boil for two minutes. Then turn off heat and let sit for ten minutes. Drain water and run cold water over eggs until cool enough to handle. Peel them when they are still warm they are easier to peel. If you are making deviled eggs shake each egg side to side this will put the yoke in the center. Cooking this way prevents the "green ring" around the yoke, this is from over cooking. My eggs always turn out perfect yellow. If you want soft boiled, just remove from heat after 2 minute boil and cool and peel. Good Luck...

Hard-Cooked 1-2-3

1 COVER a single layer of large eggs with water in a saucepan. Water level should be at least 1 in. above eggs. Cover the saucepan and quickly bring the water just to boiling.

2 REMOVE from heat. Let eggs stand covered in the hot water for 15 min. (18 min. for extra-large eggs).

3 DRAIN water from pan and immediately run cold water over eggs until completely cooled.

Very fresh eggs are harder to peel. Use eggs that have been in your refrigerator for a few days.

STEP 1: Place the egg in a saucepan. STEP 2: Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg. STEP 3: Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil. STEP 4: Reduce the heat to low. STEP 5: Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs. STEP 6: Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.
