The other day my radio started to spew out only static and on the digital display were the letters "CdA". Before anybody tells me to check my CD connections, this is an original Jeep brand radio with tape from 1988, CD's didn't exhist then. If sombody has an original 88 YJ manual or knows what the heck it means could you let me know?

go ahead and treat yourself to a cd player before cd's go dinosaur on you too! You can find some new ones for less than 60 dollars and some used on ebay for 25 dollars!
