Download free Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de. This detects any spyware and gives you the option to remove it. The best way of deleting any trace of web sites you have visited is to set your history (under tools, internet options) at 0 days.

To see if you have spyware or adware or anything like that on your computer you should scan your entire computer with a program such as Norton Anti-Virus or Mcafree Spy-ware detection program or PC-cillin. These will find, quarantine, and delete any spyware, adware, keyloggers, or other viruses on your computer. As for deleting the history, go to my computer and click on the internet properties icon and del. all cookies and temporary files and clear the history. You should del these things every time you get off of the internet. A good way to prevent people from watching your computer is to not allow automatic updates and things such as that.

For spyware, good scanners are Spybot S&D or AVG. Spybot only scans when you ask it to. AVG is a free scanner that works in the back ground. Btw, AVG also has a good free virus scanner. Both are free for home use.

For deleting websites, the best thing is don't visit websites you shouldn't be visiting. Beyond that, delete your cookies, delete your history, and delete your temporary internet file or cache.

Not sure if it is the best, but there is a free program from Microsoft for removing malicious software:

And when you get rid of it. An ongoing free tool called defender:
