My husband owes child support and I was told to file together but fill out the "Injured Spouse Allocation" is there a site that will allow me to do it online?

You can get any forms you need at http://www.irs.gov You must fill out and sign the form, it cannot be filed on-line.

To protect your refund with an Injured Spouse claim you must file a paper return and attach the claim form to the tax return. If you e-file, your portion of the refund may not be protected in time. Once FMS gets the $$$ it's very difficult if not impossible to get it back.

Based on the information you have provided you knew there was child support in arrears and yet you had this large refund ready to be taken from you. I do not believe you are going to make any progress with the injured spouse application however file it and be patient because it will take a long time to process. Since the taxes are current (2010) you have another two years ahead of you so file as soon as you can. In the new year, please make sure your tax refund is small and you and your husband regardless of "his crappy job" need to file a new W-4 form and claim all the allowances both of you can claim. It makes no sense to let your money in the hands of the government all year long and then lose at a stroke of a pen. You and/or your husband may want settle the child support matter with a monthly payment both of you can afford and the sooner both of you can settle this matter perhaps the wage levy may be lifted. Hope this helps you.

As of now, the a return with an Injured Spouse form must be mailed in so the IRS can manually review it.

Also, it may take a while to get the refund.
