Is it something that can only happen outside of nature (water into wine, raising the dead) or is it something that is unexpected but wished for (winning business of the year when you thought you had no chance of winning)? Is it something that can only come from an angel or God (physically, like them standing there and healing someone) or is it secretive and often worked through others (a doctor stumbling on the right medicine combination that reduces your child's cancer)?

Tell me, what do you consider a miracle? And be nice about it, no nasty comments.

As Wikipedia says...
According to many religions, a miracle is an intervention by God in the universe. One must keep in mind that in Judaism, Christianity, Islam and in other faiths people have substantially different definitions of the word miracle. Even within a specific religion there is often more than one usage of the term.

I think a Miracle is something really good and amazing that has happened to a person without having to work for it. Like if you never studied for a test that you have no clue about, but passed with an A+. Or if Chip Foose comes and OVERHAULS your car for you, that is a miracle. ;)

A miracle, according to religious followers, can be pretty much anything. Normal everyday stuff happens, and it gets attributed to God, Vishnu, or whoever, without any question. They call it faith. This would be the doctor example in your question.

A miracle, to non-believers, is any series of extremely unlikely or impossible events, which can prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that *a* superior, supernatural being probably exists (but is not necessarily indicative of a god/s). Anything other than that is just probability and coincidence. This would be the angel healing example.

A miracle means different things to different people. But, look at it this way: 2.1 billion Christians attribute all aspects of life as miracles of God. 1.3 billion Islams attribute all aspects of life as miracles of Allah. 1.1 billion atheists believe stuff just happens because that's the way the universe turns - chaos theory, probability, action and reaction, big bang, etc. You get the point.

They can't all be right. Think about it.

That animals can demonstrate compassion, and even love. That bees can fly (and very well I might add) in spite of the fact they’re aerodynamically unfit. Humming Birds, the Rose for its beauty, the Corn Plant and Olive Tree for there supreme nourishment, the human capacity for creativity, invention and mercy, the structure and mechanics of the eye and the human foot, a healthy birth, medical advancements that heal and relieve suffering, the creation of the United States as the first country in history not only to recognize that the individual has certain inalienable rights, but that it’s success in the world can be directly traced from that principal! Bread (think about it). Life itself. Those are some of the physical miracles I see.

The supernatural miracles, I believe can, and have happened also. They are the mysteries, the unexplainable in our lives, sometimes hidden or simply unrecognized, sometimes so overwhelming only the recipient can see it. They exist...I’ve witnessed them.

Perception. Anything that you don't understand can be seen as miraculous, depending on your background and intelligence.

For example, ancient cultures created gods out of lightning and fire because to them it was a power beyond comprehension.

By the same token, the people on that Home Makeover show like to credit God or claim their new home was a miracle, because people cannot comprehend other people working together for a common goal anymore.

Just like that old parable: In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king!

I believe that there are miracles all around me. The way my body works so perfectly - is a miracle. The fact that I prayed for someone to find peace - and they did - that's a miracle. The doves coming back every spring - is a miracle.

They come in all forms - and if we recognize them as miracles - then that's what they are.

Something to replace the unexplainable, magical experience, just a word to substitute that particular occurence, and cant be proven by anything else. in other words, something good that would happen, when the odds are one in a billion. To me, a miracle would be winning the state lottery this week..
