I play this game with my dog in the house. What we do is I throw a toy for him to go fetch and then I take off in the other direction. He comes chasing after me around the house. Anyway, when he chases me it's almost like he makes a crying, whining whimper. Any idea why this is?

He's excited about the great game you're playing! I wouldn't let the vocal stuff bother you. I know several agility stars who also get carried away by the excitement of playing with their person, and vocalize as you describe all through the courses!

He's just playing. I've played with plenty of dogs that will whine when they're excited and in a playful mood. Some breeds have very distinctive sounds they make as they track and point their prey. I wouldn't worry unless you see unusual body language from your dog that would make you think he's feeling dejected.

He's a talker! He's telling you what a good time he is having playing with you. My chihuahua "sings" for the first few minutes he's in the car when we go for a ride. Some dogs have to vocalize when they are excited.
