Doctors advise that you should see them if the sore throat is not getting better by itself after three days. Throat Infections can be viral or bacterial in nature, If it is viral then rest, drinking plenty of hot drinks (such as hot lemon tea with honey and maybe brandy), suck lozenges are required. It will heal by itself. For a viral infection salt gargling will make the condition worse, SO DO NOT DO THIS.

If it is bacterial then antibiotics (such as Amoxylicin) are required, and then you must see your doctor immediately. Drink plenty of fluid, resting, sucking throat lozenges, and not speaking for a least two days, may help.

Open your mouth and look at the back of your throat with a mirror, do you see any pus there? Do you see anything that is swollen (like your tonsils)? Does your throat look red or have white patches?. If so, then the throat infection on is more likely to be bacterial, if not, then it is more likely to be viral in nature.

I would take the next few days off to see if you recover,

1. Go see a doctor (you probably have an infection)
2. Gargle with a table salt solution. (Put 4-5 teaspoons of table salt in a glass of water) Mix it to dissolve as much as possible. Gargle for 3-5 min several times a day. Caution>>> do not swallow the salt solution.
3. Use throat lozenges
4. Rest

should go to the doctors and get some antibiotics as that may be the only thing to clear it up.

but if you don't wanna go WHICH YOU SHOULD

house hold goods

pure blackberry fruit (vitamin C's)

Pineapple juice provides temporary relief of pain

the most common honey and lemon, goes good
in tea (don't put any milk in)

eating garlic and onion can also help as garlic enhances the immune system (which should kill off the infection.

but go to the doc as we live in a modern day would of antibiotic's and other medications that will cure u in less than 3 days.
