A principle skater is someone who has a lead or main role in an ice show such as holiday or disney on ice. These are usually skaters who have retired from the amateur world of figure skating, e.g. competing at nationals, internationals and worlds etc. A figure skater just describes a person who partipates in figure skating.
As for your second question, breaking your leg wouldnt necessarily mean the end of your career, like all sports it would mean a substantial amount of time away from your sport. For example the footballer owen hargreaves who broke his fibula was back within 6-8 weeks. It depends on the severity of the break and how well you use your recovery period. A loss of strength and flexbility would be expected but these can be restored to full capcacity once training re-commences.

Yeah i've never heard of a principle skater, not in singles/pairs or even synchro. maybe you are talking about a skating show cast? breaking a leg would need quite alot of time to heal and gain back the strength in that leg for jumps and spins,. but it is possible. the younger the skater is when the injury happens, the easier it is for them to get back to the sport and recover.
definately not the end of the career, but the skater needs to take some time off, and sometimes may have to stop doing triples or difficult jumps for a while.

I've never heard of a principle skater, but if someone broke their leg, of course it wouldn't be the end to their career. I know a lot of skaters that have broken their leg. They just had to take a couple months of of skating.
