Nothing odd, just my back or my sides.

I didn't think too much about this until recently as I prepare to get married.
Me: Soft, pillow-top mattress with exactly 3 feather pillows. One feather pillow is placed pyramid style on top of the other two. Sleep on my back until I need to change and then switch to a side position but my head is supported by the feather pillows. I can't sleep with the sheets tucked in because of many toe surgeries. I love my down comforter, light and warm, with it over my face. Fan runs in room to create a breeze and produce a white noise. With this combination, I sleep like a rock for a good 7 hours.

Him: Sealy Posturepedic bed that is like a floor in firmness. a CPAP machine that thankfully eliminates snoring and produces a soothing white noise. The bed is hard enough that I feel his heart beating through it sometimes. He likes the older comforter that is warm and polyester. He must have his sheets tucked in. He sleeps on his back with his arms pinning down the covers under his arms. He gets up at least twice a night and each time, the hard bed rolls like a ship waking me up completely. When he's sleeping and changes position, the pinning of the comforter by his arms means he takes the comforter with him and thus completely strips all covers off me. He thinks he's allergic to feathers.

The solution we working on: I sewed my feather pillows inside another cover -- seems to be working. We're going to try a tempur-pedic bed to satisfy the 2 extremes of hard and soft. I'm hoping it eliminates the shipboard feel. I keep another blanket near me to use when he strips off the covers. It's easier than fighting to get a corner of them. The extra blanket doesn't need to be tucked in.
