I am making a banana flavored cake--just a boxed mix. What kind of frosting would be yummy on it? I've got a pretty big variety of ingredients here so what flavor do you suggest?

I know this is going to sound odd, but I love the combination of Banana and chocolate, so I'd probably go with a rich dark chocolate frosting or glaze. Something that will give you the punch of chocolate, without taking away from the yummy banana flavor.

Cream cheese frosting is good. You could also make some fresh whipped cream to frost the cake and then lightly sprinkle some finely chopped walnuts on the top.

A maple frosting would be really good, or just plain white or chocolate frosting

Cream cheese, so you don't have another strong flavor fighting the banana. Mix one (or two, I love cream cheese) packages of softened cream cheese with one stick of softened butter, until creamy, gradually add two cups of confectionary sugar and one teaspoon of vanilla. This should accentuate the banana flavor.

I would think that a simple cream cheese frosting would taste good.

i iknow it sounds boring but i would use chocolate....then you can slice up a banana in a bowl with a piece of your banana cake with chocolate frosting and put strawberry ice cream ,and, or strawberry sauce and have a banana split.
