HI
Try putting a tablespoon of crushed pineapple in their food it is a diet imbalance,

I had a fellow dog owner complain to me about this before. She had gotten advice from a dog trainer to start sprinkling dog poo in the yard with cayenne pepper and then let the dog take a taste. She told me it took a couple days, but then her dog figured out all the poo it came across was too spicy!

Puppies eat poo because they can & they like it. Gross, I know, but they do it. Mine eat Rabbit, Sheep, Cat, other dogs, anything except Fox which they roll in. Blerrgg ....
Hopefully your pup will grow out of it, but you could try feeding your Retriever a small piece of Pineapple as this is supposed to make it unpalitable.

don't worry about it many dogs/puppies eat dog poo or Even cat poo. I've got a 4yr old dog that still does it occasionally. the only way i can think of you stopping your dog by doing it is by telling her off every time you see it doing it. funnily enough my dog is part rotty as well

This is very common. There is more protein in poo than you may imagine. It might also be a habit she has developed. Chastise her gently and try and discourage her. If the donor dog has been eating something interesting, the smell and taste will be there.

My oldest dog is 11 now and still feels the urge to eat poo sometimes! Don't worry, your puppy should grow out of this.

This is very common. My dog does it too. They do this because it a way of keeping their scent. If the golden retriever has one scent and the rottweiler has one scent the rottweiler tries to remove the scent by eating the golden retriever's poop. I have found out it does not harm the dog it just makes it have bad breath. So get that toothbrush ready!!!!....lol

See your vet. Some people claim that giving the dogs MSG will keep them from eating feces. Your vet can confirm this and let you know if this is an option for you pup.

All dogs eat poo, but most will eat it because they aren't getting enough nutrients. It's not about the amount of food but the quality. Maybe try switching puppy chow?

This is called coprophagia and is considered normal (yet disgusting) behavior in puppies. You can try adding pineapple or meat tenderizer to the puppy's food or use one of the commercial products available at the pet store. There are a variety of reasons this happens and it's best to consult with your vet to rule out any problems.
