I got massage 2 days ago, and it was a bit rough. However, I thought that the person was professional, so I just went along with it. Right after the massage my spine began to hurt a lot, and the day after it still hurt. Today is the third day, and some pain subsided, but I still feel discomfort in my spine. I'm starting to get worried. I hoppe that the masseuse didn't dislocate my spine or some other bones. Should I just wait this out? What can I do in the meantime to minimize the pain (non-meds wise), and is this something to be worried over or is this typical after getting a rough massage?

You should be able to tell if it is muscle pain or bone pain.
If it was a deep tissue massage, and it sounds like it was you have sore muscles, which would be a pretty aggressive massage.

Try soaking in a hot tub with Epsom Salts. That should help the tissues begin to feel better.

My Masseuse is in the same office as my Chiropractor. So I can keep my body aligned along with the massage.

Climb in that hot, yummy Tub!!

I'm sorry to hear your first experiance with massage was so not as wonderful as it could be!

In the short term a warm bath or shower will help relax the muscles and reduce some of the muscle pain.
Keep in mind different people like different ammounts of pressure! That being said your therapist should have been checking in with you to ensure they were giving you enough pressure for you to recieve the full benifits of the massage, but not so deep that it felt uncomfortable!
As for wondering if you should see a doctor it would depend on the pain. As another poster said it might be a good idea to contact the massage therapist you used and let her know what is going on and check if this is a normal reaction to too much pressure or something that might require a doctor to give you a clean bill of health.

Many times after a deep tissue massage you will hurt for a few days. I suggest you apply ice packs (Fifteen minutes at a time) to take down any inflammation that was caused by the massage. if the pain continues check with your medical doctor. I would strongly recommend you see a chiropractor since they are the best doctors to treat back problems. They could tell you immediately if you have something serious going on. I've enclosed a link for you to be able to find a chiropractor in your area.

As a massage therapist, I can tell you that there is two kind of pain: "pleasure" pain (like when you're stretching) or hurting pain (like getting hit). If at any time you feel that hurting pain or are not comfortable with the "pleasure" pain, tell your therapist immediatly. If they try to convince you that it's for your good, you should still let them know you aren't comfortable.

With deep work, you might feel sore the next day, but not hurt. It should feel like you started a new exercise program, not like you were in a bar fight. As for going to the doctor or taking meds, use your best judgement. They most likely didn't do major damage, but, again, it's about your comfort with the situation. Please please please let the therapist know about this pain you have. They have no idea they caused it unless you let them know, and they can then change what they are doing.

I would give the masseuse a call and let them know what you are experiencing. Then I would contact my Dr. and find out what the masseuse actually did. I would not take this lightly.

No. It is not normal for your back to hurt at all after a massage.
See a doctor at once.
