My daughter was arrested for AWOL. She is in the county jail. How long will it be before the MP's come to get her.

The MP's may or may not come to get her, and it doesn't necessarily depend on how far she is from a military post. In some situations, the nearest recruiting station may handle cases of AWOL soldiers, if they are contacted and asked to do so by the MP's. When I was in the DEP program one of my recruiters had to escort an AWOL soldier back to his base. Chances are, though, the MP's will come to get her. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about her being punished too severely -- Most of the time they'll give her an Article 15 (disciplinary action), probably field grade (Stays on her record), dock her paycheck, depending on how long she's been AWOL, and she will probably have extra-duty. If she straightens up and squares herself away, it may not be extremely detrimental to her military career, especially if she's new to the military, and this is her first offense.

It also depends on how long she has been AWOL. After 90 days (If I recall correctly) she is dropped from rolls and listed as a deserter, which is considerably worse -- This could carry a life sentence, or in time of war, the death penalty. I wouldn't worry about the death penalty, as I haven't heard of any AWOL soldier being given a death sentence in the last 6 years.

was she awol or ua they are 2 different things. awol has a much harsher consequence. it all depends on how long she has been ua if it is considered awol. the time she spends in county jail is not what i would be worried about it would be the time she spends in military jail.

If she was Brittish it would be 28 days in a military prison and possible discharge from the army. We swear an oath of allegience to the Queen, so its almost a direct insult of her reign.
Surely the USA swear an oath to something. I think its worth more than 28 days.

If she was arrested then she was more likely a deserter than simply AWOL.

Generally, the military attitude to recovering a deserter sitting in a jail is: "When we get around to it."

Hope she likes working at McDonald's. With the type of discharge she is going to get - this will be the only type of job she will qualify for.

Anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days depending on how far she is from the nearest base.

Soon as they can send someone to get her! Why is your daughter UA? Hope she knows he consequences of her actions. Joining the military is no joke, and there should be harsh consequences for her actions during a time of war.

they can actually let her sit there until they feel like getting her.. months, if they don't have the manpower.

People should read this and realize that when we say AWOLers WILL BE CAUGHT. we mean it.

That will depend on how far she is from a military installation. The bigger question is why was/is she UA?
