Is the skin rough and red (ringworm or mange) or is it pink and smooth? If it is healthy-looking new skin, then it's probably a scar from getting into a fight. That's common with street cats. I have a neutered tomcat who is an adopted stray and he's a real scrapper with my other cats (we live on a farm). Right now he has a similar bare patch on his shoulder.
The hair loss could be from an infected bite that has healed, or from the cat licking the wound. Cats sometimes get abcesses from puncture wounds they get fighting. You might not notice a bite wound right away if the bleeding has stopped and the cat has licked it clean. Later the abcess opens up and drains, and sometimes the hair falls out also, leaving a bare patch. If it seems infected, take the cat ot the vet, who will probably prescribe an antibiotic. The hair should eventually grow back.
It is also a very good idea to get your cat a rabies shot, especially if the cat goes outside and fights with other cats.
Ringworm usually turns the skin a rough, scaley red, and the cat scratches it a lot. Mange also causes hair loss and, again, would be irritated and itchy. These should be seen by a vet also.

Sounds like bubbles might have gotten into a fight or its possible that the fur was rubbed off by something she was trying to crawl through. If you can get close enough put some anti-biotic ointment on the spot that is bare. If it doesnt appear to be healing in the next week or so I would take you cat to the vet to make sure that its nothing of a serious nature. I have had similar instances with my cats and they have all healed up pretty quickly, it never seemed to be very seriious. Make sure you get her shots, so that if she does get into a fight and is scraped up by another cat she wont be in any danger of disease. SLP

I agree that any stray should be taken to the vet for a check up right away ESPECIALLY if you already have animals at home. You don't want to jeopordize the health of any pets you may already have.
That patch could be a number of things, fleas, allergies, ring worm (which is treatable though highly contagious to both humans and pets), insect of tick bite.
Good luck and I hope you will be able to give this furry friend a wonderful furrever home.

Any stray that follows you home should be checked immediatly by a vet. Especially if there is a raw patch on his/her side. It may just be irritated and the cat has been scratching it.
Again you should really get the cat checked out and make sure it has it's tetanous shots..

You should take Bubbles to the Vet.
She may have fleas and the bald spot is from her scratching it.
She could have a tick or she could have ring worm.
She could have been in a fight with another cat, dog or wild animal of some sort.
Regardless of what it is, she needs to be seen by a Vet.

its just from a very big tick!
ticks are parasites that latch on to an animal and suck their blood
they get bigger as they take in more blood and cats are known to scratch them off the spot youre seeing is where the ticks horn was

It sounds like ring worm which is contagious and humans can get it also. Take him to a vet and they can give you a cream to take care of it.
