To the people answering with "education".

I am a certified genius.
I was in the Honors Program.
I am a loving, fiercely protective mother.
I am a patient mother, who encourages play, art, idependent thought, and a myriad of other things.

I also spank my child when the situation warrants it. Not often. Not hard. But yes, I do.

Calling people who spank "uneducated" or "stupid" only serves one purpose; to satiate your anger that other parents' disciplinary methods are different than yours. (God forbid.)

Is it a degree in brainwashing from the idiot school of Psychiatry? Because every therapist I have ever talked to says not to spank Oh yes and all of their kids are in therapy! HA HA
Or maybe it's a death wish for a misbehaved child!

I think a parents right is to be able to spank their child. Every one should be able to discipline their own children without others telling them they are right or wrong. People who spanked their children are looked down on by people who don't spank. People who don't spank make mistakes or discipline in a way that may not work for the spanker. I believe unless a child is being beat it is not anyone Else's business how children of others are disciplined. Also people who spank are educated, so You shouldn't say its because of lack of education as to why people spank.

ADHD, because thats the only reason that i know of where a parent would be stupid enough to not spank their child. Let me tell you something, i think it's total bullshit that all these states want to outlaw spanking. How else are you suppose to get the little shits to listen, i mean i grew up on spankings and after the **** i did, it did me some good. And my kids will grow up with them too. I mean look what happens when you don't spank kids you get poeple who commit crimes because their parents didn't have the decency to spank that *** and say no! And the most famous example of why you should spank your kids . . . so your child doesn't end up like George W. Bush!

This is a subject that will be debated util the end of time....

Wacking a child on the butt in order to gain control of them? If you have little children and they are tantrum thowers....how does hitting them on the rear and adding to the stress of the situation help? If they are older and you try whalloping them....they look at you like you're from outter space. For me (when my oldest son was young and I was new at this) it did nothing but made me more frustrated and made it harder to deal with him. I stopped doing it and tried totally different approaches. I have 3 boys and never need to spank. They aren't brats ...they definitely aren't perfect either but when they mess up they know that I respect them enough to deal with it in a dignified manner and they respect me enough to take the punishment given and try to learn from it.

I good spanking every now and then doesn't hurt it takes them down a notch and keeps them in check i grew up with them and so does my stepdaughter and my nieces and nephew. I don't like to do it but if the situation calls for it. Then do what you need to do.

there is nothing wrong with spanking your child, as long as you dont get carried away with it. most kids that turn out to be spoiled and brats are because their parent didnt spank them and let them do whatever they wanted, which is ridiculous.
