I have 3 daughters and I will tell you the very nicest thing you could do for your dad is a birthday cake, a nice card,a hug and tell him you love him. leave a small note in the card letting him know you appreciate him, maybe mention a special memory from one of your b-days that he helped make special, thank him for it and tell him you hope this b-day is as special for him.

I think the best gift a child can give to a parent is a letter telling them of all of the wonderful memories they have of their parent. It can tell about times your Dad helped you with homework or learning a sport, fun on a vacation or zoo or a funny movie you laughed so hard at you spewed soda everywhere. Think about special moments with your Dad and tell him how they're important to you. As a parent, I worry and remember some times that I didn't do the best job as a parent. To get a reminder of some of the good things/times I passed on to my kids would be priceless. Talk from the heart. Your father must be very special to have such a caring child. Have fun!

I always get my dad his favorite colognes, maybe some shirts or some jeans. Find something your dad is really into, like my dad is into Harley Davidson's, i tend to buy him a lot of motorcycle stuff. Bake him a cake and make him a HOME MADE card. home made things are always the best. they mean more.

I used to bake my dad's favorite cookies for his birthday and put them in some kind of decorative tin. It was inexpensive, and personal.

As a dad, don't give him something he needs, give him something he wants...if you are watching your budget, write a letter to him about what he means to you and reflect over the years what he has done. I'm sure he will treasure it.
