i'm always glad when people ask about what we can do -- it shows that people care and are coming around to an attitude that is best for everyone.

what is global warming? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming

http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/

the following link goes to an excerpt from an inconvenient truth and lists a whole host of things that we can do (in our day-to-day lives as well as at the national level):

http://www.motherearthnews.com/Nature_and_Environment/2006-10-01/What_You_Can_Do_to_Help_Solve_the_Climate_Crisis

if the link doesn't load, just use the search at www.MotherEarthNews.com for global warming, it's like the first thing to pop up (What You Can Do to Help Solve the Climate Crisis).

on that page is also a CO2 calculator so you can see how much you contribute.

meanwhile, if you have money to spare, i contribute to two organizations which are highly influential:

the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is just that, and they provide much of the science (ignored) by the white house. they also have taken the bush administration to court on several issues. http://www.ucsusa.org/

so has the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC), who seek to preserve and protect our environment. they are also quite active in the courts. http://www.nrdc.org/

these are arguably the most active and most effective organizations you can support. they aren't extremists like many people think of when they think greenpeace...it's more using the system to fight the system...check them out and see for yourself?

they also have other info on their sites (including, but not limited to, global warming) good luck!
