I am an atheist, so I cannpt believe that a god exists. Likewise, although I hear about them, i simply cannot believe that there are people out there who ACTUALLY BELIEVE the Earth is 6,000 years old.

It's hard to believe but this is certainly the case.

Part of it has to be blamed on the education system - it people aren't taught about the science of evolution, then of course they will believe some of the lies and propoganda spouted by the creationists (you know the type of rubbish: 'evolution is only a theory. So is ID', 'too complex to be based on chance, must be a creator', 'breaches scientific laws', 'missing fossil records', 'why aren't we seeing fish turning into camels every few weeks', etc, etc, etc).

It is unfortunate, but scientists are very bad at publicising their work. The ID supporters are very good at publicising their propoganda and the media are very, very bad at judging what is scientific and what is garbage. With all the mixed messages people receive, those with a belief in creationism can feel safe in the knowledge, that 'clearly' there is a lot of scientific debate! And those who are unsure, remain unsure, because 'clearly' there are two fairly equal sides to the argument.

The only solution to this is education. Through the schools and through the media.

Is it that really that difficult for people to think that life came from life rather then life came from non-living matter? Don’t you have parents who gave you life?

The Complexity of Life would dictate evolution to be unlikely...

These complex systems are all, in the case of every known organism, reproduced and assembled on the basis of the “instructions” built into the DNA molecular system.

DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is composed of six simpler molecules; these consist of four bases, the arrangement of which specifies the message, made up of nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen and carbon, along with a deoxyribose sugar molecule and a phosphate molecule which hold the bases in place.

The DNA molecule not only has information required for the synthesis of the specific protein molecules needed by the cell, but also that needed for its own replication. Thus, reproduction and inheritance depend directly on this remarkable molecule, as organized differently and specifically for each kind of organism.
Thus, the problem of abiogeneis devolves upon the method by which the first replicating system evolved.

The insuperable barrier; however is that DNA can only be replicated with the specific help of certain protein molecules (enzymes) which, in turn, can only produced at the direction of DNA. Each depends on the other and both must be present for replication to take place.

I believe in creation, but the bible does not teach that the planet earth is 6000 years old. Adam was created over 6000 years ago. The earth was already here when God started to make it inhabitable on the first creative day. Adam was not created until the end of the sixth creative day. We do not know how long each creative "day" was. We are in God's seventh day or rest day and it has lasted over 6000 years.

It's a matter of belief.

God's time is not man's time.

Biblical 6 days is really the time it took from big-bang to man being upon the earth; since we know that this time is more like 4 billion years, we can work it out.

The Adamic beliefs may say 6000 years, but we may need to look more closely at this and suggest that Man as we know him/her and Adam/Eve represent the beginning of consciousness and the realisation that another power beyond our comprehension actually exists.

It is on these principles that I am able to reconcile both my scientific and theological knowledge.

I can further testify that yes there is a God.

Richards Dawkins says evolution was nothing special and neither are we. So why does he think he is that great then?
A man with great grades but many stupid moments lol

Like his meeb idea, Religon is a meeb, Someone invents it (the religion) and it travels to other poeple (like a virus travels from computer to computer) these means people learn to accept it and gains status in society dispite the fact its a lie.

Now, does that not mean his meeb idea is also a meeb? lol

I think it does. lol

You got to love Dawkins saying his own work is BS in front of tons of people lol

The bottom line is it may have been God, it may have been a fluke. They're more important in the world like helping africa and curing infections than to sit around all day wondering how it began.

If you believe in God, thats fine. If you don't thats fine too. Both parties need to learn to stop shoving their beliefs down each others throats and just live the life they have been giving.

The creationists don't claim that the world is 6,000 years old. The One True God creates the worlds and all creatures from time immemorial and they will exist to eternity. We better learn more deeply both science and religion to attain a more accurate knowledge of the universe, of man and especially of God.

Well, you have found one, and I do not wish to debate the subject.

It is not hard for an Atheist to grasp onto any concept that would deny the existence or power of God.

Praise God in all things.

I can't believe there are people who actually think they descended from apes or crawled out of some primordial ooze. Einstein and a group of other scientist came up with the Big Bang theory, they traced time back to within the first couple seconds. They just didn't know who created what kind of explosion, therefore they came to believe in God, not all scientists are Atheists. Einstein was a total Genius and I'll take his word over anyone Else's any day of the week.

I certainly believe in creation but not creationism! There is no telling how old Earth is!

To believe that the Earth is 6000 years old is to believe that God created everything. Well if God created everything, who created God? If God has no creator, then why would he create us only to kill us. The bible is so dramatically Earth and human centric that it does not allow for the fact that there are still billions of galaxies more than there are humans on the Earth.
