I keep getting an error message this morning that that program I am using has caused a problem and is going to close. Would I like to save a dump file? It is doing this on every program that opens up. I can operate programs with the error message up but it closes them when I acknowledge the error message.

I have no viruses on the computer but there is some adware/spyware stuff that has been detected. I will award 10 points to the first person that can help me resolve this issue. Thanks!!!

What I have did, that has seemed to work so far, was to set the computer back in time.

If you are using Windows XP, a dump file is a file that is automatically created when a program crashes (i.e. when an invalid instruction in the code is executed causing the program to crash). The program you are using might be corrupted but not the whole part of it. It may continue to operate while the message is displayed because windows allows it to save it's files when you can. So, after you acknowledge the error message, windows terminates the process. You can try re-installing the program or if it does not work, check the media you are using. Another possibility is that one of the drivers (.dll, .ocx, .drv, etc) may be corrupted. In this case, re-installing windows is necessary otherwise, search for the corrupt driver and replace it with a working one.

Dump the file and see what it says. If you have detected some adware/spyware get rid of it. Run HiJack This and it will give you a long log of everything in your computer and you can then tell if you have some left over spyware or adware. Also Spybot and AdAware are good to run as well as your virus scans.
