Both ears are pierced with 14 gauge Titanium captive bead rings. The right ear hurts slightly. It feels a bit swollen at the rear of the piercing on the lobe. It feels larger and is slightly painful. I thoroughly washed the area with Detol disinfectant. Could this be an infection even at the late stage of development? The left earring feels perfectly fine. I am worried I might have to remove my right earring because of this problem. Please assist. Thanks you.

Sounds like you have a slight infection. I had a few in my second piercing in my left ear. If it really hurts, you should press on the ear to see if any pus or anything comes out. If so, you have two options really (I assume you want to keep the piercing) - you can pull out the earing and disinfect (I used rubbing alcohol) the ear, and the earing, and then replace it... or you can just cover the area with disinfectant - either way will sting...

Or you can pull out the earing and let the hole close - then you'll need to get it repierced.

Mine got infected periodically for a year or two - was literally a pain... but with enough disinfectant it ended up ok.

Dip the earring in Neosporin or Cortaid then put it back in your ear. Do this everyday and it will feel better probably by tomorrow or the next day.

Sounds like a slight infection. Do you sleep on that ear? Keep it clean and try not to sleep on it.
