The Bible is BELIEVED to be "the Word of God" which does not mean that it necessarily IS. The New Testament, at least, was written by men and after the so-called fact, thus there are discrepancies among the Gospels and other books. Unless you are self-professed fundamentalist, you would not interpret the bible literally, and, if you would do so, I should think that you might be confused.

What errors and inconsistencies?
There may be translational differences but we have some pretty accurate translations out there today.
Don't forget a lot of cults like to translate their own version of the bible.
Some translations are translated according to doctrine, that is, they go with phrases and words that match their doctrine. That too is a no no.
You have to remember that the bible was written using some pretty ancient languages.
Now I know there are a lot of interpretation errors. That has nothing to do with the bible but with the reader.

God(s) doesn't/don't write Bibles. People write Bibles. People have agendas and are prone to making mistakes.
