1. if they are flirting with or are attracted to a guy.
2. if they are in a situation thats making them feel self-conscious or nervous.
3. they could just be checking that their hair still looks ok

This is exactly what I was asking myself the other day! Lol. I don't really run my hand through my hair that much but the other day I was on a date and couldn't keep my hand outta my hair! Lol even though my hair was fine and I wasn't feeling nervous and I didn't even realise I was doing it...I think it's because I was attracted to him and this was a subconcious way of portraying it...Maybe..

I always play with my hair but not just when talking to a guy but I suppose it is a subconcious way of flirting, or a nervous reaction either way a lot of women do it so we are either nervous or flirting

becos my hairs quite long and i like leaving it out but it gets in the way so i have to shift it aside....like this one time i was changing my cd drive (no am not butch am a web designer) and looking down and screwing in the pins but then accidently screwed in my hair with the pin aswell cos its so damn long looooooooooool, it wasnt funny at the time tho (actually yes it was) but lets just say i dont leave my hair out when i open a comp up anymore!

One of the reasons could be because they are flirting if they are talking to a male.
If talking to a female they are self conscious.

Sometimes because they are nervous or want to flirt or sometimes it can be boredom so its something to do or maybe they jus want to make sure thier hair looks nice

its because women to-day seems to revel their hair unkempt and all over their head uncombed and consequently its always falling over their faces and they habitually brush their hair back with their hand which is irritating
