Looking for honest answers, I have an opportunity to go and live in Toronto for at least a year, no real worries, I have been to Canada, Canadians are good people and the country is relaxed, civilised and stunning, so I want to go. However I have never experienced a Canadian winter Canadians think I am woos for worrying but most Brits I have met who have been in the winter say it can be a real drag and get you down any thoughts?

Toronto is the most ethnically diverse city in the world. Winters can be tough but don't let that discourage you. Drink plenty of milk, if you are lactose intolerant, Vitamin D supplements to help get you through the winter. The upside to Toronto and Canada far outweighs the downside. Where else can you see the whole world in one city. Come on over and enjoy!

Come on over. You'll get used to it and even if you don't you'll have stories about how you survived a Canadian winter :). If you come in Spring or Summer then you'll be able to ease into winter through autumn.

Spending a year here is great as you'll get to see Caribana and all the other festivals we have over the year. There's plenty of Winter related activities too to help you forget the cold. Learning to ice skate is fun both for you and everyone watching you.

Just remember to layer, thermal underwear works *wonders*.

Well, if you dont mind real cold weather, then you'll be fine. I myself have lived here most of my life and hate the winters. I dont like the cold at all. The snow is pretty to look at, but thats about it for me. Most days in the winter can be a drag for most. The sloppy snow on the roads, the stupid drivers on the road who cant drive, the chilling winds and blowing snow. I guess its just a prefence for some who like the cold winters.

You just dress warm and deal with it. Yes it can be cold so bundle up. Born and raised Torontonian, not a big winter fan, but I manage every year. The real key is good layering. And it makes you really appreciate all the other seasons. Go For It!

Honestly, it's much better than the constant grey sky's and rain. All you have to do is dress accordingly for that days temperature. Easy!
