i was just wondering how many of u think its fair to give a thumbs down for a personal opinion? i mean, in some cases when the answer is rude or descrimitave or anything like this, but for example, i was given two thumbs down for a question that asked basically if labs were good dogs... my answer was that they are loyal, intelligent and good with children.i get 2 thumbs down for this?? meh... im not offended, but i just think it is a little strange!! anyone got any stories about their experiences with being shunted for their opinions? i mean, this is yahoo answers... ppl ask, ppl answer with their opinion... i will mention that i do give people thumbs downs for their answers if it is deserved. eg: "ur dog is a f***ing mutt. it should be put down" to this, i give a thumbs down....
any opinions?

I agree.Labs are good dogs and have all the attributes you claim (though not all are intelligent!!).
No you dont deserve to get 2 thumbs down for this but hey-you're on line here and dealing with a cross section of society.If you reckon that half of what's out there are loonies/morons/creeps etc then you're going to get,on average,a fair percentage of those evaluating your opinion.
But look on the bright side.
There's the normal ones (like me!!!) giving you the thumbs up

Yes its really ridiculous as I have extensive experience with dogs and various other animals including wildlife and livestock and I well remember a question about whether to get a mutt or purebred. They had so many stupid responses running down mutts/crossbred and most were frankly not only seriously misguided but also offensive .Its a great shame that the uneducated and inexperienced rif raf are able to not only comment on things that they know nothing about but also get to vote. Only recently I saw someone get the best answer to a question on how butterflies eat .. with an answer through their feelers! I am seriously loosing interest in this site as it day by day seems to to be moving toward some twisted view of abnormal peoples reality.

I see totally logical good answers with thumbs down ratings. Sometimes I get thumbs down when I think I have given really good solid info as well. I think people just do it to get the points, as sometimes every single answer, good or bad will have a thumbs down. I really don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the answers sometimes, I really think people just want the extra points.

I don't let the thumbs down thing bother me. I have a lot of knowledge about dogs and people can learn from my experiences if they will listen. If they don't then that is their loss. Some people just give thumbs down to almost everything, no matter what is posted.

I wouldn't take it personally. In fact, I don't see the big deal at all! It's not going to effect your daily life, and if it does, then you need to seriously examine your life and perhaps spend less time here!
You seem like a sweet and tender hearted person. Just go with it & screw the people who give you the thumbs down! My God-I get violation notices for posting answers like "consult your vet."

i agree. some people dont actuelly READ the answer. ive read ones that had thumbs down and read peoples comments on them and im like thats not whati said. its annoying enough that im done answering for the day.hang in there tough beneth a lot of bull some good coms out.

i only give a thumbs down if someone answers an incorrect answer (which i see a lot) & give thumbs up for good correct answers (also a lot of these)
its realy just to see if any one aggrees or dissagreas with you

I think it's maybe because you only answered part of the question. You only gave good points about Labs but failed to mention that they tend to be rowdy, stay immature longer then many breeds and need alot of exercise. What you did mention about them was true..don't get me wrong but they would not fit into may peoples lifestyle.

The fact that the thumbs up/thumbs down system is anonymous gives people a license to be the opinionated, judgmental, illogical assholes that they really are. If the thumbs downs weren't anonymous, people wouldn't do that so much.

Sometimes people like to give actual I-looked-it-up answers. some people just give opinons, and sometimes it is hard to tell.
