Nicotine Replacement Therapies. There is the nicotine lozenge, gum, patches, inhaler, and a new one called Chantix that might be a prescrip only one. I am not sure of the spelling. I know dang well that these WORK! It is important to do the WHOLE program, such as is instructed on the packaging.
If cost is a factor, most of these NRTs also come in store brands that work, too. And, I found that the starter pack of the nic gum worked out to be cheaper than the refill packs. (Remember that even tho these can be expensive, smoking is every bit as expensive as the NRTs.)
A doctor might want to prescribe Wellbutrin or Zyban for you.
Support groups, such as www.QuitNet.com and there are some local ones in a lot of cities. There are other quit smoking sites out there on the Internet, too. I'd caution tho, that if you choose to use an NRT, some of these sites won't want you to join. QuitNet doesn't care which method you choose.

If u really want to give up smoking then try the following recipe:
determine a date in the future and lets say 14th Feb 2007 to be the day i'll give up smoke on.. and start preparing your self to this great date.. and start imagening how would your life be after giving up smoke.. and when u reach that, u'll find it easier to quit smoking.. u should be serious..
what happens here is that your body will start preparing it self to stop smoking, and along with your determination to leave cigarates.. it is gonna be really easy ;-))

Get pregnant. Dramatic I know, but it works.
Spend the whole 9 months cutting down to almost nothing, then book a C section, stay in for a week and hey presto - cured; smoke free zone for you and baby!

Will power is best
Tell yourself you hate them, that you dont need them, Get angry at them
Prove to yourself that you will not be a slave to something so pathetic
Or you could try that new Surgery thing where they cut a piece of the brain out that will stop cravings for it
Will power better =)
