My american cocrspaniol-female,2years.How long can she live on prednisolon 5mg?

Diagnosed with thrombocetomenia, has often high fever,takes medicine for 1 year already(2tablets every other day for 3 weeks, 2weeks break and then again).No skin problems, just weight increase,tired,low energy.Is there other way to help?How long can she carry on like this?
