body utilizes glucose for energy now if you drink only plain water your body will resort to your fats and protein stores in your body and convert them to glucose. so i think you could sustain fasting for 10 days straight if you have enough fat and protein stores, however, if not, then you will surely become hypoglycemic (low blood sugar), if your brain is continually deprived of glucose in the process you may need to be rushed to the ER.

That VERY much depends.
First of all- fasting is never something you take on lightly. You need to be clear what you are doing and you do need to have a doctor's approval.
I have done twice in the last year but I can tell you that I am a grown woman and I was able to stay at home during the fast. The problem is not the fasting but the weird feelings you eventually get. Drinking in the region of 5 + litres of water is a must (drink every time your tummy "feels" empty and you get pangs) but you WILL feel light-headed and dizzy at some point in that time and you must keep yourself calm and quiet in order for this to work for you.
In Asian countries it is monks and other "holy" people who do this and they NEVER run about! In fact they tend to meditate and rest throughout.

its plain but when u do go back to normal, u'll eat more and gain more weight then before, whats the point of starving ? loosing weight and being healthly is a Life style not a temporary change, or diet or what ever anyone else tells u.
eating healthly and exercise regularly is same as brushing ur teeth or having a shower... if u think of that way u'll live a healthy life and posiblely a very Hot body..

NEVER EVER EVER!!!! Unless some strict religious thing, this is a terrible shock to a body that needs nutrition that only real food can supply. I do the Slim Fast thing for nutritional as well as weight loss/management reasons, but i eat a well balanced nutritional meal in the evening. You can really sick from "starving yourself". Talk to your doctor and he/she may have suggestions.

hi there, thats a bit of a tough question because it depends on what reason you are doing it for - if its for religious regions then i can't really argue, each one to their own as they say! but if its for any other reason then i would have to say that it is not very healthy at all, your body can go without air for 3min, without water for 3days and without food for 3weeks before you die - but i surely would not like to take it that far! if its for weight loss, rather opt for smaller meals throughout the day like snacking, so that your metabolism increases and your body uses energy faster! as for the protein diet, also not healthy - too many proteins in your body sneds your body into ketosis which is acids in your urine, your breath and skin will start to smell bad and your kidneys will be put under intense strain..you my also increase your chance of kidney stones etc...its really very bad for you. eat lots of vegetables and fruit, definately eat breakfast and make supper your lightest meal! lots of water and enough sleep...remember to look after and listen to your body! when you don't eat for that long, your blood sugar spikes and you will experience mood swings and energy dips, i don't think its worth it...good luck...

Fasting for one or two days in a month is good for health but if you want to fast for 10 days straight then normally it is not good as it weakens your systems but in India their are saints who do fasting for days without eating anything but they also do nothing but lying down and taking rest and they are also in good health it all depends on practice nothng more or nothing less.
