6 to 8 weeks. The younger the pup is with its new owner, the better to imprint with its new family and surrounding.

The Kennel Club does not state a minimum age for puppies to leave their mothers because the optimum age varies from breed to breed. For a Labrador puppy, I would say 7 - 9 weeks. There are advantages & disadvantages at whatever age.

Reputable KC registered breeders cant sell a pup untill it is at least 8 weeks old. It needs to be totally weaned off mum and eating soilds. As labs are a big breed they are best left with mum as long as poss to get all the vits and nutriants from her milk so they grow strong and healthy. I wouldn't touch a pup under 8 weeks obviously anyone selling them before hand are just cashing in rather than taking proper care if the pups.
I got both mine at 8 weeks and they are perfect I had to get my JRT at 5 weeks because the breeders were having a marrage break down and were threatening to abandon the pups if they werent gone (that was 10years ago now). My jrt still suckles on his blanket so it just goes to show what happens if their taken away too early.

I used to be a volunteer at an animal shelter. puppies should be a minimum of 8 weeks when being taken from their mother. This is not just to ensure they are weaned and eating solids well. A young animal learns a lot of behaviour from the mother & removing them from the mother before 8wks means they lose a lot of interaction. If someone offers you a pup younger than this they are on a money making scam or do not have the animals best interests/welfare in mind. Hope this helps

Puppies should be allowed to be weaned from the mother and this should take from 6-8 weeks. Although some mother will wean their pups sooner. It's mainly due to the vitamins in the mothers milk.

Puppies should not leave their mothers any earlier than 8 weeks, and 9 or 10 is probably even better.
A puppy taken away from its mother and littermates too soon may develop physical, social and behavioral problems later. (or sooner!)
I do not believe that a reputable, responsible breeder would allow puppies to be placed in new homes prior to 8 weeks old.

5-8 weeks. Guide Dogs For The Blind prefer about 5 weeks as it stops the pup developing a 'pack instinct'.
